Established in 1989 and officially opened by the Prime Minister of the day, the Rt Hon. David Lange, The Curry Club has been serving patrons traditional Indian cuisine ever since. The Curry Club has not only set a high standard in authentic Indian Cuisine, with heavy Delhi influences, but the truly Indian experience is complemented by traditional furnishings and fittings imported from India.

A warm welcome from Ajay and his staff will greet you when you enter and you’ll have the choice of going directly to a table or relaxing at the bar. The bar is partitioned off from the restaurant and is roomy and relaxing. Pull up a bar stool or gather with friends around a couple of tables for a quiet one. Serving a wide selection of wines, local ales and spirits, The Curry Club also serves an extensive range of imported beers. For a truly Indian experience, try an Indian ale: Flying Horse, King Fisher, Bengal Tiger or Taj Mahal. Take one to your table too, as these beers are an ideal complement to any curry. And for other beer aficionados there’s also a choice of Becks, Carona, Crown Lager, Singha (from Thailand), Stella, Grolsch (from Holland), Guinness, and Tiger (from Singapore). The Curry Club is also BYO.

The restaurant is large and divided into two seating areas, and is perfectly arranged for both small and large dining parties. Serving lunch and dinner during the working week and dinner on weekends, the substantial menu offers a wide selection of tempting, tasty soups, appetizers, breads, condiments, Tandoori dishes and curries. The Tandoori kitchen borders the restaurant and is partitioned by a glass wall. Patrons can watch the Tandoori chef skewer fish, meat, poultry and kebab, and cook it in the clay oven fired by charcoal while north Indian breads bake over its hot interior walls.

The menu abounds with curries of all persuasions served with beautiful fluffy saffron basmati rice. And vegetarians have a choice from dozens of curries and Biryanis.

And if you’re eatting on the run, The Curry Club serves takeaways and delivers within Wellington up to and including Johnsonville. A minimum delivery fee of $3.50 may apply.
